Gear upgrade, junkyard gears?

1990 & up 4.0-liter Rangers. These are ALWAYS equipped with the 8.8-inch 28-spline rear axle.

There ya go, sorry it too so long for me to respond.

Really? Do you know if it would be a bolt in swap for everything? I'm looking for as little down time as possible. Just enough to unbolt my axle, swap tires brakes etc, bolt up the new one, and then be off and ready to go.

ranger to ranger swap, then yes it would be bolt in swap. You'll want to look at 93 and up tough so you'll get the same width axle. The 90 and 92 had a narrower one, 2" IIRC.

Alrighty then. Looks like I'll be searching for 1993+ 4.0's in the near future. Axle code 96/97 or R6/R7.

I see the question has been answered, got side tracked here and too slow.
