does anybody know where a 302 (factory 2 brrl) runs at as far as the powerband. currently have 3.55 rearend with the 7.5 ratio. have 225/75/15 wheels and tires. wanting to put 235/75/16 wheels and tires. mostly using it for basic transportation but it will haul 2 four-wheelers on a trailer or a 14 foot aluminum boat on a trailer. what would be a good all-around gear ratio for the rearend? this is coupled with a C-4 transmission. also this is 4x4.

gear ratio

it came out of 1979 thunderbird. it is a original ford engine. by the way the country that i live in now is relativley flat. just small rolling hills.

I'd say just bump up to 3.73's and upgrade that 7.5 to an 8.8 while you're at it.

if you pull weight you need gearing. as for the 302, the only thing i have to use as a judge is my brothers mustang and it does just fine with 3.73s BUT he has one more gear with his AOD so i wouldent recommend more than 355s.
