Has anyone come accross any literature or drawing on how to repair / replace a gear indicator that is no longer working?

I have a 1999 Ranger w/ AT, and my indicator has completely stopped working. ( P R N D 3...) I can get to it via the dash cluster, but there is a flex cable that goes down into the steering col. I REALLY don't want to start monkeying with it until I can find something on it.

Searched internet and several manuals, no luck yet.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thank you

Pull the bolster panel and the column shrouds off. There is a stretchy nylon cable that pulls the needle. Cable probably broke, once you have those trim panels off you will be able to see it. and see if it broke. If so, you need a new PRNDL piece.

Thank you very much. I am starting to find some articles about other models that may have the same set up. Between your answer and what I found so far, I think I get it.
