I had someone tell me that they had issues with bad exhaust manifold and oil pan gaskets in the past on a different model ford truck. Have any of you had poorly designed gaskets give you trouble? Specifically gaskets like the ones in the attached photos

(The exhaust manifold gaskets shown are not for a 4.0, but are the same material)

Can't say that I've ever had an issue with any gasket as long as the mating surfaces are good. Not even the cereal box and soda can gaskets I made for the go-kart engine when I was a kid. (Soda can was for the head gasket. Wow did that add some compression to that old flathead briggs!)

Same thing I do for chainsaws. Sometimes nothing at all depending on the squish. Really wakes them up
