I have been trying to find out what the thickness is for the outer gasket(axle flange) on a 9" anyone have any ideas? Also wondering what material it is made from, at work we got this new (at least to us) white plastic material for making gaskets out of any of you ever see it before or know what uses it has i.e. fuel, oils, hydros?

I just go to the local shop and get either a .031 or .062" thick sheet, usaully the .062 that is gasket material. White material, does it feel slippery? Could be GorTex, we used it in a lot of applications, oils and caustic materials, pretty inert. I made quite a few gaskets myself and found out that for cutting the holes for bolts, empty shell casings really cut a nice hole, 22 for a 1/4", 38 for the 3/8 and 45 pretty good for the 1/2".

That is some good tips Mac, yes the white material is slippery, I have a hole punch set here at home but was going to make a few gaskets at work since things are slow right now and I have access to everything there. Thanks for the thickness measurements too!
