someone stole a half tank of gas outta my truck last night

I am pissed, there goes 30 bucks

I haven't decided to break their knee caps or their necks

but Ill have time to decide which while i am figuring out who-dunit

You're not likely to figure out who did it. Buy a locking fuel cap.

Keerist, I remember those from the 70s. Pisses me off to no end that they might be necessary again.

Of course if you have one of those Chryslers with the built in siphon, you may just be screwed.

Reminds me of a story in the paper sometime back, theives going to siphon from a motorhome- they have big tanks ya know- and got into the sewage holding tanks by mistake... the owner found a siphon hose and a bunch of barf on the ground when he showed up the next day.

Might want to put a sticker beside the gas flap saying "sewage". Maybe some moron might believe it...

When I was living in the dorms, I came out one morning and found my gas cap hanging and the door open. Joke was on them though because my tank was already empty. I went and bought a locking gas cap that day. Fact is that a locking gas cap isnt going to stop anybody, but it is a good deterent.

I know a guy that stenciled "DIESEL" on his truck by the gas fill to deter thieves. That will filter 99% of cretins.

I think I am going to do that!

We had a problem at the farm with this. We bolted the fuel tanks shut with tamper proof bolts. The fuel pumps on them are disabled, as these tanks are usually used as either bulk storage or with a fuel line to a oil burner in a building.

There's been some of that around here too. One guy had his heating oil stolen out of the tank, about $700 worth. Another guy had a problem with people siphoning out of his big rig. He put a locking cap on it, so what did the thieves do? Drill a hole in the tank of course. He has since taken the locking cap off.

Business around the corner from where I work was hit for 200 gallons of Diesel.

My brother-in-law had his truck at a park and ride and when he got back after work he found his fuel door open and his gas cap gone. He got in and it wouldn't start, went and got 5 gallons of gas and started pouring it in and the thiefs apparently couldn't get gas through his filler neck, so the knocked a hole in his gas tank. Cost $800 for a new one.

i was thinking about sleeping in the back of the truck with a baseball bat for a bit

but then i realized they probably wont do it again for a while

whoever is responsible has it coming...

All of the above. But who can hardly blame em with the way gas prices are skyrocketing.

I came out early to my [old] truck to go to work and there was a kid with a jerry can and some hose beside my truck. I had brought a breaker bar and 36mm socket home for a buddy and was bringing it back to work that day. I looked at him trying to get threw the locking cap (push down real hard and turn), I said "You have better hope you can run faster then I can" and Took after him, I got a jerry can out of the deal.

There was a guy in a town where my grandparents live, that tried to siphon gas from a big truck there, he was smoking when doing it. The Dodge and him went up in flames, he survived and was prosecuted, the Dodge died and was crushed. Its always nice to know that theres always that little bit of hope for gas thieves to those they steal from. I got a gas can, the guy who lost his truck got a brand new one, and the satisfaction of knowing that the guy stupid enough to seal from him got disfigured for life.

i was at walmart the other day, and in teh camping section i noticed that walmart sells like 3 or 4 different siphoning mechanisms, its like wtf, are you trying to help criminals?, so i bought one of each just to see how they worked, this simple ones just got a hand pump wiht 2 tubes, goin out each end, one for the tank and the other for well ur tank i guess, but u jut squeeze and it pulls the gas out. but i was thinking that it sure would suck if u were doin that and the gas was accidentally coming outta ur tank and u didnt notice it lol, but an old guy down the street was gettin siphoned, so he welded shut the gas door, and transfered the hose to someplace else not sure where though, he wouldnt tell no one. and one day he woke up with someone trying to pry his gas door open with a screw driver, and he called the cops lol

These punks were siphoning gas out of my neighbors truck wich has dual tanks and his front tank had a hole in the top of it so we filled it with water the next day the kid down the street was broke down in his s-10 about 200 feet from his driveway so i offered to tow him home and i did pulled into the ditch and left his ass there it

It's a big business here in CO. Gas jackers came up in the news a few weeks ago. Cars parked at light rail stations are gettin tanks drilled and sucked out.

These people are taking hundreds of gallons a night. The real question is, where the hell does it go? They can't possibly use it all up, so what sketchy corner store is selling us our own gas back?

Hah! If they hit me, the joke is on them. I only keep 9 dollars worth of gas in my tank at a time. It's all I can afford....
