Is there any difference between the fuel tanks between factory carbed and factory EFI tanks? Or is the only difference the pickup assembly? I had a little incident while out on some trails and have a hole in each side of my tank

Unfortunately, no. They are different as the carbed tanks have a smaller opening for the fuel sender unit, no internal pump in those.

If you need to make an EFI tank work on a carbed truck, that's doable though.

It take some work, but you can take the pump off the manifold and put some hard line on. Should work.

1985 SFAIK all had the "large" opening tanks

So with a 1985 pickup assembly for a 2.8 you could probably use an '88 or earlier EFI tank.

hmm well that helps I guess. I should have the large opening tank with bigger pickup designed for a carb. I guess ill tear the tank out and see what I got.

I installed an efi tank in my 84 Bronco II.I just took the larger efi style fuel pump opening cover plate and cut a hole in it to fit the smaller 84 fuel pump pickup cover plate and then attached my 84 pickup to the larger plate.
