Ok, so the story thus far,

My gas rear gas tank strap rotted out, so I decided to replace the filler neck along with that. Of course the strap kit only came with the rear strap, and so Now i'm only going to replace the rear strap.

My questions....

1. How does the left side of the strap unbuckle from the frame?

2. How hard is it going to be for me to pull the old Filler neck out and replace the new one without taking the box off?

3. Where is the bolt for the Right side of the strap?

Info.

Its gona be a bitch to replace the fill neck if you don't drop the tank or take the bed off. You can sometimes reach in over the frame rail enough to get the clamp off but it aint gona be easy. Thats why Im letting the dealership do mine that way cause my mechanic strongly advised that i not even try to either drop the tank or take the bed off due to the age and rust...

So I take it you figured out how to get the strap out then?

Just in case you didn't, once you get it unbolted you let it down and turn it sideways, then jiggle and fuss with it until it falls out and hits you in the face.

If it doesn't hit you you did it wrong and have to put it back in and start over :icon_thumby:

Straight Steel! NO FINISH REQUIRED

I got the new filler neck in without dropping the tank, AND without removing the box!!!!
Pulling out=Hard
Putting in=Easy!

Ha. I set you up for that!

Anyways, here are pics of the new and old!

LOL, sorry man, but dealership mechanics crack me up. What does it matter how old it is and how rusty, taking off the bed is as easy as 6-8 bolts, and a plug, and a few screws for the filler neck. Oh wait, it doesn't matter.
