I have developed a leak on the top of my gas tank. Due to rust, removing the tank or the truck bed would cause problems. Has anyone ever removed the beds plastic liner and cut an access to the tanks gas line connections through the metal bed? My leak was caused by pressure build-up after filling up on a cold morning and being parked in the full sun. Yes "I" know better, nor do I top off the tank. Can someone please help me?

Thanks
Steve

Yes. People have done this many times, in Rangers, Explorers, and Bronco IIs. People usually do it to get access to their sender/fuel pump rather than dropping the tank... Im not sure how safe it is with a leaky tank though.

Otherwise its a pretty simple process, figure out where you want your hole, measure twice, and cut away... Also, you will want something to cover up the hole. I cut an extra-large panel (like 14" square or so) out of my old truck before I got it scraped, and I am going to use that to cover a smaller hole I have yet to cut on my new one. (Both Bronco IIs)

If you search for people asking about fuel pump and sender problems, you can probably find pictures of what others have done.
