Gas Tank 1989 Ranger Super Cab.125”wb
I’ve had the hardest time trying to find one.
In 89 tanks went Plastic, I believe it’s 89-91 that I can use.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
New or used.

Is your wheelbase 125 inches? If it is, Autozone sells a Spectra F20D they say fits a 125 inch wheelbase truck.

I think it goes like this;
Regular cab 6ft box 108" wheelbase

Regular cab 7ft box 114" wheelbase

Super cab 125" wheelbase

It is 125” Super cab. That tank looks like the 83-88 style metal tank. In 89 they went plastic.

I see what you mean. You can't use a metal tank? Your sending unit will not fit?

I haven’t had a metal tank to try it, the 83-88 filler and sending unit are in different locations. Not sure what changed with EFi and other things in 1989. I wish I could have a replica tank made. I already bought everything else brand new, not realizing my tank had a leak.

EFI came into being in 1986. I had the regular cab 7ft bed, and my sending unit was toward the front of the tank at a angle. I see the same tank for a super cab moved the sending unit toward the rear of the tank on top.

This looks like my tank.

This is the super cab metal tank.

I think you are going to end up using a metal tank. You can see the filler is the same on both tanks, they just moved the sending unit. Not sure what your plastic tank looks like.

Looks like this

You are in the same boat I was with a 1999 Tahoe. The metal ring embedded in the plastic tank had swollen with rust, and it was leaking where the sending unit sealed against the tank. I could not get that tank anywhere. I ended up retro-fitting a 2 door Tahoe metal tank under it. It was a lot of work, but I had no choice.

@RangerInDanger89
Your pic, looks like the 94 Explorer 4dr's plastic fuel tank I just threw away.

get a newer one off e bay and make it work... lots on there for 250 or less for 126 wb....plus 2000 to ship it.....with no accessories....nice.

I’ve been looking at them. Very similar in shape! Thanks for the info I’ll see what I can get together.
2000 to ship it?? Or $200? Thanks

I was being a bit facetious.... They are definitely overpriced.

I was lucky to find a used tank on
car-parts.com! Thanks for everyone that reached out. I thought I’d never find one!
