gas pump shutting off

forgive me if this is an over asked question, and I hope it is for fixes sake, but i have searched and found nothing. It is a pain to put gas in my truck. you have to barely barly push on the pump handle and it takes forever to fill it up. if you floor the pump, it will shut off in a split second. what is wrong??? is the filler neck twisted or something??? is this a common problem on 1996 rangers??? you cant even give it enough gas to lock on the lowest groove.

sounds like the vent tube is clogged, or smashed...

Any idea where that tube is located?? i am sure its on top of the tank...

if u look under your truck you can probly see it going from the gas tank to the fill up door

The filler tube is a small hose inside a larger hose. The gas goes through the smaller center hose and fumes are vented back through the larger hose. Yours is either twisted
partially shut , pinched by someting or has blockage.

Yea mine does the same thing lol. Haven't had it fixed yet but raising the pump so that if hover halfway between resting up or down helps, as well as just putting the tip in about 3 or so inches versus the whole thing. That might help till you get it replaced.

awesome.. thanks. i just had this thing in my shop and changed all the plugs, wires, and oil... forgot all about the the fillerneck.. good thing i dont have to fill this thing up very much.
