Gas poured out from under truck when fueling completed - Help?

$400-600 to get the filler neck fixed/replaced?!?!?

Damn. When mine in my 00 Explorer had an emission leak (not dripping), I picked up a $27 shipped replacement, put JB Weld on the outside of it just to be sure it was sealed, waited 24 hours and put it in. No reason to go to the dealership and spend that amount of money if you can help it.

^ This.

Total cost on mine? $60 for the filler neck and straps came free with it.

Got the tank out of my parts truck.

Hi all,

Anyone ever seen this, I have not had time to look under the truck, but was filling up and when the pump automatically stopped (full tank) I heard and then saw about 1/2 a cup of full pour out from under the bed, towards the center. Anyone ever seen this happen? I am guessing there is hole somewhere? Fuel gage is working properly.

Truck is a 94 B-3000

Thanks for any help,

Gas spilled out from under the truck when fueling but you can't find the time to look under the truck????????? Removing the bed from a Ranger is pretty easy.
No one is too busy to crawl under their truck.

yea ive got the same issue in my 96. I need to pull the bed off and check, im sure its the filler neck seems to be a common problem

All good stuff from all, doesn't the local auto parts store have this part? How heavy is the bed, for removal?

I just got mine today your lucky I spent 20 minutes just trying to put fuel in mine:icon_surprised: I gave up and got the part its pricey though. I have bought a lot of stuff on summit for decent prices and got better parts than you can get at the local places for reman oem style parts that they want the same money for. The bed is light I picked mine up on the drivers side and stuck a 2x6 in the fender well and stuck it on top the axel. When i did the fuel pump i woulda done the neck then but its kinda turned into a rush job since my f150 died:bawling: Oh well the ranger is nice to drive in its half assed state:icon_hornsup:

what kinda prices are you guys finding? LMC is $190

$99-$175 at Rock Auto for the Ranger 3.0. They don't show a B-3000. In stock and my experience is they ship the same day.

This is where I got mine, Auto and Art on Ebay. It's 38 dollars, free shipping (brand new). It worked great.

EDIT: I found some pics you may be interested in.

Here's the one I ordered from the place in the link I gave:

This is where they usually leak, the outer (aka breather) tube. It works in conjunction with the fuel cap to vent fumes from the tank:

This is the inner part where the fuel actually goes into the tank. You can see by this pipe why it is hard siphon gas from a Ranger.

I was given an '86 Ranger with a good body. After spending $2000.00 in parts, and $360.00 for the inspection, I passed the salvage inspection. I filled up both tanks [factory duel tanks] and the filler nozzle never kicked off on the rear tank. After cleaning up I drove two blocks hoping no one would throw a cigaret butt out into the trail of gas following me home. After taking a look, I found that the fuel pump wasn't installed in the second tank, there was a 4" hole where the pump should be. I ended up removing the tank and installing a spare tire carrier.
