My credo
I need more sleep.
So, last weekend I went to the Redbull Flugtag in Dallas, and Gas Monkey Garage was there, I got to meet them and say hello. Anyways they had their flying machine covered up in the hanger and they unveiled it on the ramp, it was basically a base with a hang glider on it. When you start you have to do your 30 second skit and then launch your aircraft, they didn't have one and were depending on their machine to fly very far. From the looks of it, everyone thought it would fly very far, being the record of 229ft was gotten by a similar platform. When they finally got around to launching it they got off the ramp, and went right into the water! And the metal carriage holding the glider sunk to the bottom and caused an hour delay trying to get it out. It was kinda sad, but they still won peoples choice award.

I've heard the long-term results of their "builds" is real similar...good characters on the show, but you never see a satisfied, long-term owner/buyer??

It's just their style of building doesn't fit the trend, now people want cars restored to their original condition, not these low riders with odd paint jobs.

Agreed. I can see leaving an old truck like it sits, paint-wise, and hitting it with clearcoat to slow down the rust. But they get some of the best old classics, really improve them and then leave them lookin like a turd on a stick...just don't get that. Like the turd brown Model A that they broke all the glass out of, then learned they should'a measured first...Woops!! What amazes me, of course it's all scripted, is how they just cruze Tejas backroads and jump onto property to look at old, toasted cars just left sittin around and NEVER get fired on...or at least confronted by farm dogs and blind farmers with 12 gauges. I'd like to see some of the stuff they leave on the cutting room floor. We used to take turds like the bank-roll guy (Richard?) back in high school and polish the toilet bowls with their heads...just for bein' that way. I do like the crazee head mechanic...he's got style and humor.

That one mustang they did turned out pretty good, but unfortunately got wrecked.

I predicted that they would take the place (on TV) of American Chopper and that you would eventually see them doing custom builds or theme builds for clients. American Chopper (OCC) got so big because companies were having them build theme bikes that was resulting in TV air time promoting the customers company.

Now Gas Monkey Garage has built a car for Dale Jr, (that was a big Mountain Dew promotion) and you're seeing more big name customers showing up. I expect we'll see more 'clients' wanting cars that will ultimately promote either the client or their company.

I like the show because it's entertaining. I thought it was funny when Richard said "If we run in to any problems, we'll just go to commercial, and then tell you how we fixed when we come back).

Lol! I just think its cool to see a show brew up from around where I live, and to have them actually come out to flugtag was pretty cool.

Oh yeah, they opened a bar too, and had a big after party.

Yeah, American Chopper was good for about 3 seasons...then the old man's personality/problems, etc. fuxed it up good. I always thought Junior was a real turd...I'd a fired his arse, or whipped it. Then when they both started fuxing with each other to spite each other and fuxing other people and shop up...it was just a matter of time til the train wreck. Don't know if I'd drink at the GM bar, not if slick hair waters down the booze like he wants to water down/pimp out most of the cars. The Dale Jr. Nomad was kick-ass...wish they'd do more like that...it's worth watching just to see if the dragon lady upholstery dink eventually kicks Richard's ass...now there's a spin-off waiting to happen.
