I have a 1995 Ranger 4 cyl 5 speed manual and I was wondering if it saves fuel when going downhill and putting the truck into neutral and letting it coast. Does this affect anything in the motor? Is it bad to do this often?

Unless your talking about a long (2-3 mile) hill then, generally speaking, you won't see any mileage difference. On the other hand if you have to come to a stop near the bottom of this hill your better off in gear.
