my 2010 ranger 4liter 4x4 is getting between 12.5 and 14.7 miles per imperial gallon in the city. its not broke in yet,can i expect much more once it is? i sure hope so, its rated for 19

First off, Imperial mile = 5280ft
Statute mile = 5280ft

As long as that is agreed on...

If your truck has a standard transmission, then you are rated to get 15mpg in the city, and 19mpg on the highway. If your truck is automatic, then you are rated to get 14mpg in the city, and 18mpg on the highway.

So your 12.5-14.7mpg in the city seems spot on... I would not expect much of an increase.

The 4cyl (2.3L) Rangers, with an automatic are rated for 19mpg in the city, but they were only available in a 2wd.

it is more fun to use liters/100 km then make our American cousins figure out Imperial gallons! FYI American gallon 3.78 liters, Imperial gallon 4.55 liters.

Yeah there is both City and Highway, in the city you would be getting only around 14 -15 while highway you will be getting 18 -19. And I believe engines are broken in from the factory and tested and all that good stuff.

I expect your mileage will improve to around 16 or so city once you get used to driving it and learning how to drive it correctly for optimum MPG's as all cars are different.

So, there is a difference between an imperial gallon, and an "American" gallon, but an Imerpial mile is the same as an "American" mile? Weird, well then... nevermind.

its rated 19 city,25 hyway mpg [imperial] by transport canada. so i'm getting 10.15 mp US GALLON, NOT GOOD
