There should be enough of you that have V-8'S in those rangers. How much did it change your gas mileage ? What were you getting and what are you
getting now ? If it's not to bad to talk about it gas prices being what they are . Pretty much talking road driving of coarse.

with mine i was getting 11-13mpg with a 2.8 C5 4x4 short bed w/basicly a 28 inch tire and 3.45's and with a 302 i was getting 11-13mpg with basicly the same transmission but went up to 31's with 4.10's and the exhaust i have is crap. (to small) i parked it a little over a year ago. I'm planning on putting some duff headers i bought on and an AOD but it's hard telling how long that'll be before i get to it.

I was actually wondering this as well.. because when gas gets up to $5 my little 3.0 raner is getting taken off the road, and im buying a little 35mpg civic and swapping a 5.0 into the ranger. Mostly it will be a show/pickin up chicks truck.

Damn... I'd never get chicks then. I like my truck to be QUIET.

Plus... I'm already set on the girlfriend issue.

Edit: To stay on topic... My dad has a 289 w/ 351W heads in his '83 with a FMX tranny and the original 3.45 ratio rear end. He can get a constant 19 mpg.

He also has a Weiand intake on it, but I forget what the carb is. He had an efi system off of an 80's 5.0 mustang, but never got above 17mpg with that. So, the obvious choice was to put the carb back on.

wiht my old 86 2wd, stock heigh with soem 14's on it lol, wild a mild 302 and a mild c4 i got a consistent 18mpg driving with a light foot.

If I keep it under 70mph and drive nice I can pull 15-16 without any problems. In town around 8-10 driving nice but if I'm driving it how I like to I've seen less than 6mpg many times.

I had a '90 two wheel drive long bed that I swapped a 84 302 into out of a continental. All I did was freshen the motor, build the AOD tranny and installed a 670 Pro Jection injection system running the stoke 3.73 rears. I bent up an stock looking exahust and even bought a stock F150 mufler. It runs smooth and if you dont pop the hood or step on the gas you cant tell its not stock. It was a 4 banger 5 speed that got about 18 mpg. Now its gets 20 around town and 24 out on the hwy.

OBTW it has 72,000 miles on it after the motor install.
