I want to lift my truck, but I dont know if its is worth it now with gas prices as they are. I have an 02 Ranger, ext cab auto with a 3.0. Everything is stock. I want to do a 3" fabtech spindle lift with 31 BFG AT'S. I don't have the money to re gear afterwards. I don't know what gears I have right now, but they are stock gears if that will tell you. I get about 15 in town right now with something like 28" michelins. Does any one have any experience or can tell me what kind of gas mileage I should be expecting in town with 31 all terrain tires? If it drops to 14 I would be happy. Anything lower than that and I would be pretty hesitant to do the lift.

i went from 235 tires which are 28 inches an 3.27s gears to 3.73 gears an 31s an have the same mileage.

did you guys recalibrate the speedometer??

I went from 14" to 15" and didn't notice much difference...but a better ride for sure...I wouldn't go too big on the tires or even lift at this point if you're concerned about gas mileage...

depends on what you're using it for and how much off-roading you will be able to afford when gas hits $4 or even $5 a gallon...

When I went from stock 215/75/15 to 235/75/15, no differance. From that to 31", fuel economy dropped significantly.

235s to 31s = not too much difference.

From 31s at near stock height to 33s and 6" lift = :black_eye:

I was just about to remove the lift and bring it back to stock height, but I found a killer deal on a Saturn SW2 and bought it.

35mpg = :icon_bounceblue:

If it's a 4x4, you shouldn't need to lift it for 31"s. My ranger is a 2000 model, x-cab, swapped my almost new 31x10.50 BFG ATs off my F150 before I sold it, still getting 15-16 city, almost NO hwy miles, (less than 8 mi. to work....) Running 3.73 gears. Check your door post tag for your axle code or the tag on the rear end itself. This site has a great reference to look it up at.
