Anyway to gain some gas milage in my 2.0 1988 Ranger with a webber carb? I get 17.5 to 18 mpg right now.

Tire pressure...make sure they are inflated properly and not over inflated...

Weight...not much you can do other than go with a fiberglass bed and maybe not carry anything in it...loose the tailgate if you don't need it...an added 50 or 60 lbs of weight that just does nothing when you don't carry anything...

Air dam...the one on the front...make sure it is there...it helps keep air out from under the truck...if you do plenty of highway driving it does make a difference...

Carb setup...make sure you are not running too rich...if there are adjustments...toy with them a bit...but not too much because a lean mixture can really mess your engine...

EGR...make sure it is working and the tube doesn't have any holes in it...it won't suck the exhaust in properly if there are holes or wonky connections...and you can have the valve tested to make sure it is operating properly...

Do not do hard accelerations from stops...go easy...coast when possible without gas pedal pressure...avoid stop and go traffic...and do not warm up the engine or let it idle for extended periods of time...

Not really familiar with the weber carbs but there should be adjustments...if it is a two stage carb make sure the second stage is not set too high...it will just blob gas into the chamber without any noticeable performance improvement...but it may actually cause a decrease in performance...

And last but not least...run some higher grade gas through it once in a while...not the premium stuff, but a mid-range...see if there is a bigger difference in performance and mileage...

When I use mid-grade gas I get better performance and better mileage...but I don't run it all the time...maybe see about low price octane boosters...

You can mill the head .075" to .100" for higher compression, this will make combustion more efficient. Narrow tires. Lower it. Run mid grade or premium. Add these to the above mentioned and you will be surprised at the gains in MPG
