I have a gas leak. It seems to be coming from a white plug on the ass end of the tank. I haven't been able to find a replacement. Anyone know where I can get one? Or, better yet, anyone know of a way to patch the leak?

Is it possible by some weird twist of engineering genius that your tank 'may' have a drain plug in it? It's been ages since I've seen a drain plug on a small vehicle though.

the only white plug i know of is on the top near the back. i could be wrong....

I've never tried to weld plastic. The thought just never occurred to me.

It's roughly 1.5 inches is diameter and it's dead smack in the middle of the back of the tank.

a product called seal-all is gas resistant and will patch your leak.. most hardware stores carry it, and I've seen it at wal-mart, before, in the automotive section..

I've seen it used, before, on a gas tank that got ripped open, when it was applied, as the gas was still gushing out of the tank.. the person squeezed out a gob of the seal-all, pushed it into area of the ripped open gas tank, where the gas was still leaking out, and it sealed the leak, instantly.. hard to believe, but I seen it with my own eyes, so I know it works, as seeing is believing.. I'm sure your leak isn't as bad, as the leak that I witnessed.. so, put some seal-all on your leak, and you'll solve your gas leaking problem..

I'll have to try that. Thanks for the info. I just called around to find a replacement. Auto parts stores don't seem to carry them and they're roughly $1450 through the dealers.

can you take a picture of the thing? first time i've heard of any kind of white plug on that kind of car...

hey, i saw your pics, that is kinda wierd. How long you owned the truck? I'm not particularly mechanically inclined, but my guess is it's from some prior, repair, ordeal, whatev... oh wait, but you wanted to know how to fix it? ha, ha couldn't tell ya, but yeah with prices these days, I can see why you'd want too. Maybe somebody's usin that to siphon your gas?

Try www.car-part.com and do a nationwide search of the junkyards. A hell of a site for hard to find parts.
