Do I have to change the sended or anything like that or can I just snip the wire and wire up a part store gas gauge? the sender is working I checked it its the gauge thats no good.

You need to make sure that your new gauge uses the same ohm range as your old one, otherwise it will not read correctly when wired up to the OE sender.

I don't know how much your dash is different but on my 93 dash that's in my 86 you can take off the front clear shield. Then you can pull each gauge out separately it's held in clips that also make the electric connections. There really is no wiring in a new gauge.Adams08 is right my gauge only goes up to 3/8 from mixing different years.
