So before I put my bed back on my truck I was driving around the lot for fun and noticed my gas gauge was reading full. I know it has right around 3/4 tank maybe a little less. After driving around a few minutes it went down to normal. Next day started up and same thing. Gauge reads full then SLOWELY goes down to where the level really is. I know I put the fuel pump back in correctly and was sure to not bend anything or mess with anything when putting it back in. Anyone know why this is doing this? Just want to fix it before I put the bed back on but don't know what to look for. FYI I am parked on fairly level ground as well and driving on level ground too.

I would just make sure your grounds are bright and tight. It is a 28 yr old truck. Anything can fail at anytime.Gives your truck character You can check the range of the sender with an ohmeter. There should be a spec. No clue what it is. :D

Yeah it's just odd because once you drive it for a few minutes it slowly goes down to where it needs to be and reading correctly. Just initially it shows it is plum full. I tried opening the gas cap just incase pressure was building up for some reason. I can live with it as long as it stays accurate. I just don't want to put the bed on only to have to pull it off again. Also it is only a 19-20 year old truck lol. I think you added a decade lol

I was going by your handle 91... :D

I run the Rat low because its not registered and I only use it to run the rubbish to the road or moving firewood. The needle reads about 1/8 and goes lower when running. It is a 1400' round trip. I have the transfer case in 4
low and the hubs unlocked.

The 91 was my old truck. I don't have that any more. Wish I did but it had a lot of issues. Like a LOT of issues. And at the time I was about to be a first time dad and needed something more practical than a big 4wd.
