FX4 Level II Questions, incl. ctr console

For the umpteenth time in the last several years....

The original FX4 came out in 2002, with the Torsen diff, Bilstein shocks, 15" Alcoa wheels, etc. 2002 was also the LAST year for the Off-Road Package (ORP), which was a step down from the FX4 but still got you skid plates, HD shocks (not Bilsteins), and 16" A/T tires. I used to own one.

Now then, in 2003 the old ORP became the FX4 and the 2002 FX4 became the FX4 Level II. As far as I know the only difference between a 2002 ORP and a 2003 FX4 (non-Level II) is that the 2003 FX4 included a limited-slip (non-Torsen) rear in the package. From 1998 to 2002 the limited-slip was optional with the ORP. My 2002 ORP had a limited-slip and it was listed separately on the window sticker.

So basically....
2002 FX4 = 2003-up FX4 Level II
1998-2002 Off-Road Package = 2003-up FX4

Glad you remembered all that, Bro!!! I forgot about that to tell you the truth!!!! It always was confusing about the 4x4 and Fx4 and the Level II packages!!!

It's really hard to tell "correctly" what is right or wrong with a lot of the Ranger options. They also changed mid year sometimes. I've had a couple of Rangers that were not LII's but had the 16" tires.

'03-up Level II's (and '02 FX4's) all came with the 15x7 Alcoa wheels and 31x10.50-15 BFG A/T tires.
