Whats the differences between the level 2 and off road packages?

The early FX4 and 4x4OR (like mine) were level 2's since there was no level 1, just the 4x4 edition and the OR or FX4 package. they come with all the skidplates, 4.10 gearing, and some plastic fender trim, etc. I know this was true for the 2002 and 2003, but im not really sure on when they went to the 2 different packages. i think it might have been in 2005 or 2006.

I'm lookin @ 03 and theres an OR and a L2, I'm trying to see if its worth spending the extra cash for L2... Figured I should know the differences.

well i think the L2 might be a nicer truck. prlly has the mach sound for a stereo, and they are sposed to have blistein shocks and alcoa rims and bfg tires. are they at the same place. it might be better to drive the 2 and closely look at them if its not that far away.

if your looking at the 03 FX4 LEVEL II, its well worth the extra cash. if it has the manual tranny, it also come with a manual t-case. it has a torsen ls differential over the regular FX4 and the OR. it also has a 31 spline 8.8 vice the 28 spline in the OR and the FX4 in the 03. the 02 FX4 also had the torsen.

the 02 FX4 was the same exact same thing as the 03 FX4 LEVEL II besides the interor. the interior difference between the 03 LEVEL II AND THE 02 FX4 is that the dash bezel for the radio is silver rather than black and the seats are two tone(black w/ re or black w/ blue. the 02 had black with silver little triangle shapes. they both came with bucket seats and a center console.

if you decide to get the OR, you gonna be spending way more later on to try and make into the LEVEL II. its a sweet truck and i recommend you get the LEVEL II with a manual tranny and manual t-case. the 03 is the last year that ford made them like that.

its auto, i don't want to drive manual, i can, but i'd prefer not to.

you obviously didn't read the whole thread. they said that 02 FX4's are the same as 03 FX4 L2.

As far as what I know, in 2002 the Torsen differential and 31 spline axles were standard only with the FX4. If your OR has them, then it must have been a special order or someone switched axles on it. I guess the Ford factory could have made a mistake also.

Changed my mind guys. Getting my moms 3.0 Edge for REAL cheap, so I figure I'll just take that and put some work into her.
