They want to BAN lead ammunition because it is a harm to the environment.... uhm.... uhm.... how? You shoot to kill, or you shoot a target, in which the bullet is now under ground, or in the target, or in a target wall (like at a shooting range).

How can it be harmful to the environment if hunting is where you shoot to kill, not shoot to wound and walk away?

So stupid people just think that lead is good for everything. Lead poison is one of the leading causes for animal, and human deaths besides starvation. Would you like to drink water that had tons of lead in it from being buried in the ground for years? I see no purpose for lead ammo, Bro.

I have come across so many animals in my lifetime that were just shot and left there to die or killed and left to rot by idiot hunters. I have no respect for this type of hunter. They better hope I never run into one or I will take them out and leave them there to ROT!! Good hunters take good shots and never leave an animal to rot after they got their horns, and they take the animal for the meat. This is a good hunter...and I hate hunting!!!!

I agree with you, but I also hunt, and sport shoot. I agree that lead should not be used for hunting water foul, as steel is just as good and doesn't poison the water. Now that being said anything besides lead that is metal penetrates too well for us civilians to really own, and nothing quite has the mass of lead to hit hard enough to kill an animal in one clean shot. I also will personally hurt and defial any "hunter" that leaves an animal to suffer and only takes the horns or fur, I cannot stand that.

There are several other metals being used or considered. Do a Google on "Replacement for Lead Bullets". And don't blame Mr. "O" for the change, he's got too many other stupid ideas he and Nancy are working on. Favorite was putting a bar code on each cartridge to help identify who bought it. That's a big DUH!. And if the bullets/gun are stolen, you still get the blame?

I bird hunt quite a bit. Bismuth is a choice because it's so dense, but damn, those shells are way, way pricier than lead. I thought it was a federal law that you couldn't shoot waterfowl with lead anymore. Most people use steel shot - but if you've got a really old shotgun, it can seriously trash the barrel. Every couple of years Texas Parks and Wildlife talks about banning lead pellets for upland bird hunting too. Don't know anything about other metals for bullets though.

Nothing is going to replace lead, because people aren't going to do it... I hope all of the cronies in our government trying to do this get lead poisoning...

That's why I'm buying surplus 7.62x39, it isn't made with any of the new crap, and its cheaper than all hell to buy. Someone further up said something about their stuff for like 4 bucks a box, and thats what I'm getting too. It may not be match grade, but I sure wouldnt want to get shot with it, and I've fired about 80 rounds of it through an SKS and it all functioned fine so...

This has nothing at all with any gun regulations. Same reason they took lead of of paint and eliminated cad plating, just not good for Mother Earth (you and me).

it is because lead is a toxic metal, and when it goes into the ground it leaches into the ground. (granted, a few pounds of bullets spread over a wide area I don't think is going to do much environmental damage but over time the lead adds up. and that is the reason)

car tire weights are also under fire for this reason. and personally, I think that a stainless steel weight works just as good as lead, so I can see this.

as for the bullets, I dont' think there is any real good replacement for lead, as it is soft and hard metals make the round more armor peircing. possibly plastics or polymers if they can get weight behind them.

The only reason wheel weights are under fire is to justify the bullet chase. Pellet guns have already gone this route, you can get PBA(performance ballistic ammo) Which is 100% lead free, but its bad for spring loaded guns because the ammo is lighter, It shoots 200 fps faster, but wears out hte springs quicker. Bullshit either way, If we can eat what we kill with lead ammo then how the hell is it gonna hurt the environment, We should go back to the lead based paint for cribs, Our nation was more normal then.

So I almost forgot, for the extremist in the group, You can go assasinate a certain bullet bigoted leader (cant say the name cuz the FBI watches shyt like this LOL ) with a non lead bullet that is unfingerprintable and untraceable. ICE. Rather expensive as it must remain frozen till a few seconds before you fire, BUt what the hell its worth a shot LOL. I expect some vids. Hows that for non leaded ammunition?
