I have been having a weird problem since i put a new starter in my truck. The day put it in I saw there was a little wire going to the starter. When it wasn't connected the temp. gauge went all the way as far possible. When I hooked it up everything was fine as I drove, but when I shut the engine off and if I was still holding the brake the temp. gauge would max out. So now as I drive, anytime I turn on any electrical part like headlights, brake , fan even turn signals the gauge will move to the right and give a slightly higher reading. Any thoughts on this problem?

Check out thermostat and pull off wire. Ground out wire and turn ignition key on. The temp should peg out if working properly. Maybe the small wire to starter shorted with temp...
