My 1987 Bronco 2 has a funny sound while going down the road around 40-60 miles per hour. It sounds like: phissssh, almost like a air leak in a air pressure hose that's leaking. The truck still has the orginal cat and a small muffler with a short 18 inch piece of pipe. Do you think the cat is partly plugged/too much back pressure???

I would bet you have a small exhaust leak somewhere after the cat.

You know the more I listened to the noise,it sounded like it was coming from the engine compartment. I took off the intake hose before the air box and tried to run it like that. The noise went away!!! I think the air hose/baffle on the radiator support is plugged. The motor seems to run better, more accelation.:yahoo:
