i have a 1994 ford ranger, and you can only fill the gas tank slowly. fuel pump keeps stopping as if tank is full could it be a venting problem i have replaced the filler neck and checked it to make sure it didn't kink. any ideas?????

My dad's cousin had the same problem with his 2010 F250...it would take him 45 minutes to fill it.

It IS a venting problem. For him, it was when the local shop installed his 5th wheel, they drilled straight through his fuel lines and vent lines....then tried to "patch" it with electrical tape. Naturally the vaccum in the lines sucked the tape in. He had to have the entire thing replaced from tank to fuel rail.

That being said, it could be anywhere in your system. Could even be a pinched line like you suggested. You'll have to get under it and look for any visible kinks or pinches.

Have you been off-roading lately? Could've bumped up on a rock or a stump?

Any codes? CEL on?

He now owns that local shop, correct? :icon_confused::icon_confused:

lol....no. They paid for the parts and repairs. Originally they were only going to cover the parts, but they wanted to do the work themselves, but they changed their mind when he told them he'd see them in court.

I don't know what I would have done, in that situation, but I can guarantee you that it would not have been very nice.

I'm usually a laid back person and try to calmly and rationally work things out but f'ing up my 2010 F-150 would probably have sent me into orbit. Especially f'ing it up and then trying to cover it up with freaking electrical tape.

Pull your vent line off and blow it out with some compressed air.

I tried that on my 01 ,turned out the restriction was in the pump. replaced the pump problem solved.:yahoo:

We see these in the shops all the time, usually in summer. 90-some percent are plugged vent lines, usually clods of dirt or spider webs.

I'm not quite sure how a pump gets a restriction, and even less sure how the pump would cause an issue that is generally a problem with the evap system.
