Do rangers have a serviceable roll over valve? I went to get gas and filed it up then it started leaking right there not a huge leak but a good size it did not leak from the filler but somewhere lower im thinking a bad roll over valve? any other ideas? my filler neck hose is really old and i can see the strings in the hose near the gas tank so anyways that will be replaced while im there you guys think it could be a roll over valve? any help is good! :shok:

Check your filler hose where it connects to the tank. I had a similar problem with my 94. The hose developed a crack and caused it to leak. There is an inertia switch that cuts power to the fuel pump, it is located under the dash on the passenger side. Not sure about a rollover valve.

No, no rollover valve, system should be sealed once gas cap is tight.
EVAP system could leak some fuel(up by radiator) if vehicle was on it's side or top for a few hours, but it wouldn't be much.

There are only two openings on the fuel tank, Filler/vent and the Fuel pump access ring, both are on the upper part of the tank

I had an 86 ranger dual tank given to me. I did about $2000.00 worth of work to get it thru inspection, it passed. The first time I filled it up it started spewing fuel on the ground. The second tank didn't have a fuel pump in it and the hole wasn't covered. I drove very carefully 2 blocks home so I could drain the tank, with a trail of gas behind me the whole way.
Very scary!

also check for cracked tank around filler neck attachment...

More than likely it is the filler neck. Very common issue with the ranger. Get a 40 dollar fleabay special and swap it out. Easiest way is to pull the bed. 6 bolts, 3 screws and un hook the taillight harness at the back bumper and two guys can lift the bed off. It'll take about 20 minutes to pull the bed.
