Fuel Rail

Im stumped here. I don't know why the fuel isn't getting into the rail. Its pressured up to the FPR but wont go past that. The FPR is brand new so I don't know whats going on. Its a new 5.0 in my 98 explorer sport, it would fire if I could get fuel in the rail. I sprayed some starting fluid in the air intake to see if it had spark and it did. So if anybody has any advise I would love to here it.

Um, you are supposed to have pressure up to the FPR, not after it. After the FPR is the return side. The injectors should be BEFORE the FPR in the flow path, so if you have pressure at the FPR but not at the test port or the injectors you have the lines hooked up backwards.

Yes I did have the lines backwards, just found that out. It started but is running a bit rough. I don't know an thing about cam sensors and how the timing works. The engine is a 97 5.0 that I rebuilt. The wiring harness is out of a 99 and I had to use the cam sensor out of the 99 because of the connector. So any thoughts on this.

The timing should more or less set itself. If you have the cam sensor out of adjustment i can screw with stuff though.

So how do you ajust the cam senor

There is a tool.

I don't actually know how to do it first hand, never had to replace one. I've never had a vehicle with one, and they were mostly out of use before I started wrenching.
