'08 Ranger. The rear tank mount has rusted off the frame so the tank has to come out. It has 133k on it and the pump has never been replaced. Should I put a new one in or do they last forever ?

Personally, I'd pressure check the pump and clean or replace the sock. Check the tank for sediment and clean it if necessary. At 133K I wouldn't expect you to have issues with it the pump, but it's also 18 years old. If you feel more comfortable swapping it out, you're still looking at a new pump's longevity vs. What may be OEM. I'm at 175K on my '08's pump and it's still going...

With aftermarket parts generally being a random mix of good and crap and name brands no longer being always good, it’s a crap shoot.

My F-150 is still running the OEM pumps but the rear tank pump flakes out sometimes.

Mom’s Explorer the OEM pump died at like 150k. I bought a Delphi and another name brand for it that I can’t remember at the moment and one was DOA and the other lasted about a month.

My green Ranger has a no-name pump because the OEM pump wasn’t pushing enough fuel at around 150k.

Choptop got an Airtex because when the tank started leaking (steel), the pump looked pretty crusty and I didn’t feel like fighting with it to swap it over to the new tank.

Best way to determine if the pump is ok is with a good filter in line (filters should be changed every 20-30k), check the fuel pressure at the rail. But that doesn’t really tell you much beyond being able to still put out proper pressure.
