help! i have a 1995 2.3 with 421,000 mi and i noticed a pattern today :icon_confused: after i drive it and turn it off .....ready...if i try to start it 1-5 minutes after i shut it off, no problem, if i try to start it 20 min or longer no problem (wait for it) but if i try to start it in that 5-20 min range ,no go. bang on the tank nothing ,ko,ko,ko nothing , i have to wait till 20 min to start it, i have replaced the fuel pump at 325,000 mi (pep boys) and filter about 50k ago, yes i have not pulled any codes yet nor have i did a fuel pressure test yet:icon_thumby: as i havent had time work / family obligations....ok i am lazy, now i will throw this into the mix, at 1/2 petel it bucks and misses bad,1 dead buck at a time,i spill my coffee, before i run around to check gas or spark or codes, did any of you guys experence anything like this, if so whatta you think, thanks Bob

It sounds as if the bucking could be caused by a 'dead' spot in the swing of the Throttle Position Sensor.

The 5-20 minute gap that it won't start... All I can think of is a loose connection somewhere.

However, give us some time and someone else will chime in whom has a little more experience with this issue.

thanks bud yeah I'm getting done a little early today so I'm gonna be able to go in and have a couple codes in all that good stuff update banging on the gas tank does not make it start

doesn't sound like a fuel pump issue at all... i remember on older fords there's a module that goes bad, doesn't like heat... but they usually make a vehicle die while it's running, and not start back up till it cools right down...

my dad did have a wagoneer with a 360 that was rebuilt, and they didn't pay attention to the tollerances in the cylinder size well enough, if he shut the engine off after driving it for a while, he couldn't get it to crank over for about 45 minutes... turns out the cylinder bore was too small for the pistons, when the engine was cold, it wasn't an issue, but as it heated up, the metal expanded and squeezed the pistons just enough that there was too much friction for the starter motor to turn it... i could see that happening, but i guess the motor wasn't just rebuilt?

use a module where would I might will be do you have any idea actually thinking it was a relay of some sort I appreciate it thank you

sorry i was using voice activation , where would the module be, i am going to check fords relays and fuses along the way , went to AZ today and as usual pulled no codes, thank you guys for chiming in

Drivers fender is where I've seen it, about 4-6" square, 2or so thick, aluminum, maybe heat syncs on it, probably says FoMoCo

Sent from somewhere naughty!

thanks for all your help ,guys, i went to AZ today, pulled some codes, cam sensor, and one i didnt expect,...coil packs missfire, both went bad, kinda makes sence now, it heats up, they fail, cools down and has enough to fire truck, since i replaces em' it does run smoother, gonna do cam sensor next day or 2 , ill let you'all know:icon_cheers:
