fuel pump voltage check

looking at buying an 88 4x4 2.8.
cranked over and started (sounds good to)died just a few minutes later.
fuel pump is not running,no pressure at the rail.
wheres a good point to tap the wires to check for voltage?
iam kinda under the gun to get this truck outta where its at (owners moving,sold house)
iam taking a chiltons to work with me today to try to trace it before i buy a new pump but any inside info would be great!

They are notorious for the FP relay to fail.

Not sure if that year had two pumps or not (tank and framerail).

You might find the FP on the inner DS framerail. May have a plastic cover over it.

Inertia switch in the PS footwell area is a good spot to check power if the FP is in the tank. Confirms the relay is working.

thanks........i forgot my haynes today so i couldnt look it up.
truck is about 25 miles from me so it'll be sat afternoon when i can get back to it so iam trying to gather as much info as possible.
dont know if it has 2 pumps or not.....i checked the zone today they have the frame pump in stock but have to order the tank unit.
i really dont want to have to trailer this pig home,would rather drive it.gave $400 for it.all i want is wheels and tires,has almost brand new st of 33x12.50 kumos on 15x10 alum. wheels.my son wants the truck to drive to work and haul quads with.
