fuel pump testing no power

i have a 95 with the 4.0 I just replaced the gas tank skid now it wont start. I don't think the pump is getting power. when you turn the key on I cant hear it. so I took a battery charger and hooked it to the pos and heg on the pump and it stated humming/running so I think that the pump is still working fine. how can I test the plug to see if that's getting power to the pump. thank you

The fuel pump only gets power for 2 seconds when key is turned on, it is a safety measure.
First I would look in the engine compartment fuse box, there is a 30 amp Fuel Pump fuse in there.

There is also a Fuel Pump relay, that should "click" when key is first turned on, then "click" again 2 seconds later.
The 30 amp fuse doesn't power this relay, the relay passes the 30amp power to the fuel pump.

In the cab passenger footwell just above the carpet, or in the kick panel will be the inertia switch, it is a small box with 2 wiring connections and a push button on the top.
Fuel pump's 12volts passes thru this switch, so if you hook up a test light to ground and one of the switches wires and then turn on the key light should come on for 2 seconds.
Voltmeter also works.

Inertia switch cuts fuel pump power in a sudden stop(accident) or roll over, button on the top resets it.
