I have a 96 2.3 Ford Ranger. The other night I was left stranded on the roadside for several hours waiting for a tow truck. My truck just stopped running and would not start again. After checking a few things over I realised I had no fuel pressure. So I climbed under the thing and noticed my drive shaft had eaten the wires running to my O2 sensor behind the cat. I repaired the wires and insulated them then checked and replaced the blown fuses. Thinking that was the end of my problems I cycled the key expecting to hear the fuel pump prime and nothing happened. Later I put in a new fuel pump and it still won't work. I checked the pump plug with a multi meter and the gauge float is the only thing getting power. I checked all the wires and I can't find a break in them anywhere. I am stumped, please help.

Still having electrical problems in Hawaii.

Check for power at the inertia switch, where a passenger's toes hit.
Both wires should have power when it is connected.
Will only have power for the same amount of time as the "Prime" you aren't hearing.
No power at either wire takes you back to the FP relay.

Does your CEL come on with the key at Run?
If not, the PCM Power relay is not working, which explains the FP relay not working.

The ground for FP is on one of the fenders, under the hood.
PCM ground is either near the PCM or at the radiator support.
