My ranger won't start. Not only is my battery dead, but I have a feeling a major problem is the fuel pump. It doesn't make the whirring sound when I turn the ignition to accessory. What is the best way to check that it is indeed the fuel pump, and not some other problem, like wiring?

Check for power at the inertia switch or fuel pump connector at the top of the tank when the key is turned to Run, not Accessory.

Kinda need to charge the battery before you troubleshoot the FP, eh?

I can E-Mail you 2000 schematics that'll help, just PM me your e-mail address.

Check the obvious stuff first though. PCM and FP Fuses, reset the inertia switch, if tripped (passenger side where your toes would hit), clean the square connector under the driver seat (water intrusion) and reapply dielectric grease, THEN pull the bed and check for power at the top of the tank.
