I have my truck stuck on the side of the road with running issues. It runs fine if I go slow or it is in neutral. When the rpm's rise the truck shut down. I had a 93 last year with a bad frame and I stripped it down and scrapped it.

The question I have now since i'm told that this is most likely my fuel pump goin bad is... Can I put the brand new fuel pump I bought just before I stripped the 93 down into my 98 fuel sending unit or will this pump not work for a 98?

Go to rockauto or any of the box parts store and query your truck's fuel pump.

Then look at the compatibility chart for a cross reference match.

The wire part is fine, just the depth of the assembly might be the issue, and '93 ran 35psi of pressure '98 should be 65psi of pressure

Reads like dirty fuel filter more than pump issue.

'98 has returnless fuel system so no pressure regulator on the engine end, just a check valve on the fuel pump and that is only there to hold pressure when engine is off.
