fuel pump issue?

Try it.

If it runs the same, replace it.

If it doesn't run at all, check the tank pump.

I should think you could remove the line from the front pump and have someone turn the key to Run/Off/Run/Off and see the flow respond accordingly.

FWIW, I think your front pump is bad, (based on post #27's pressure) but it could act bad if the lift pump isn't supplying enough flow.

Im confused now. It sputters no matter how much gas is in the tank? How do I know the the restriction in the rear pump is not bringing down the pressure and causing the problem in the first place? Do I pull the hose off of the incomming side of the high pressure pump and put it in a jar to see how much fuel comes out? I had a guy tell me to unhook the wire from the front pump and start it ? I dont think that it would run at all.

Flow (volume) test the secondary high pressure pump. It should put out 2.1 liters in 60 seconds. I usually run it for 30 seconds...if it puts out a quart, be happy. Install an outlet hose downstream of the HP pump to a measured container (old tupperware juice pitcher or the like)...have a helper engage the pumps (do a search on how to do that)...use common sense dealing with gas vapors and eliminate all possible ignition sources; also wear eye protection and gloves. If the output is as stated, there is no restriction...correct?

Has anybody changed this setup? Why cant you put a high pressure pump in the gas tank an only run one pump and filter?
