I haven't been able to find this problem anywhere so I am posting here to see if the guru's can help me.

I have a 94 Ranger that when it sits overnight is very hard to start, I have to feather the gas pedal as I turn the ignition, then I have to keep my foot on the gas and warm it up for a couple of minutes before I can drive away. Once it has warmed up I do not have anymore problems with it starting till it has sat for a few hours.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The engine coolant temperature sensor is the automatic choke on Ford EFI engines. If it is bad, or the circuitry defective, the computer thinks the engine is already warm and doesn't add additional fuel for the cold air. Once the engine is warmed up, it will run and start fine.

This might be a place to start.:)shady

Or park it in a garage overnight...condensation on the wires can cause Fords to not start properly...once the condensation is burned off it will start and run fine...

It sounds alot like a fuel pressure regulator to me not holding vacuum so it bleeds off while its sitting hence hard to start or get fuel to the injectors.Could also be a weak fuel pump.

thanks much guys got a bigger problem now but will try those suggestions
