Does anyone happen to know, offhand, if any or most of the fuel line needs to be metal?

When I swapped out the gas tank I was debating on doing fuel injection but ended up putting in the low pressure fuel pump for the carb mounted on the fender...long story longer, I ran the "approved" rubber hose fuel line from the tank to the pump (quite a piece of hose there)...

I remember someone saying that it was not "safe", but didn't bother to track down an answer till now...I have priced the line and need about 4 feet (it's not expensive, but just another thing to do)...

If anyone happens to know...I'd appreciate it...

It does not need to be metal, but metal is definitely the better route.

Ford used rubber fuel line in many places...there's nothing wrong with it. As long as you use fuel rated hose, you'll be fine. Low pressure carb applications will be perfectly fine with regular fuel hose. Just make sure you have good connections and no leaks. :icon_thumby:

(I cant speak for Safety inspections though...I imagine metal lines are required to an extent)

If working with FI, make sure you use FI rated fuel hose and fittings, because of the higher pressure.

Metal line is gonna hold up a lot better. Its worth the trouble. It will hold up against ethanol and the elements a lot longer than rubber will.

I can't speak for your area, but around here using non-FI rated fuel hoses on an FI vehicle is a rejectable. You don't have that problem.
