Went to change my fuel filter the other day and could not get the filter off the line running from the tank to the filter. Tried the metal tools and the plastic ones. Nothing. So the truck ended up having to go into the dealership anyway for an unrelated issue, so I asked them to do it. The guy at the dealership comes back saying that the line is damaged and needs to be replaced. So my question is, what do I need to replace the line and where should I get it from? I'm also assuming that it would be easiest just to pull the bed off the truck. I tried looking at some diagrams on fordparts.com, but I couldn't find what I needed.
Also, I need to replace the skid plate under the gas tank. Any ideas where I could get one cheap? Ford wants like $150 bucks for one, which is outrageous. And all the junk yard ones seem to be rotted just like mine from living in this wonderful salt belt.
Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
