I've noticed a gas smell coming from the engine compartment once in a while the last few weeks. Doesn't seem related to the air temp or the engine temp. Anyone found/fixed a fuel leak under the hood? Are there any common spots or components that leak?

Found It & Oh Crap

So, guys. The gas is coming from the fuel pressure regulator/pulse damper that sits on the fuel rail. It's connected to the fuel line and a vacuum line. I got a new one from NAPA last weekend but it didn't exactly match the part in the truck. The one I got has a flare fitting on it. The one in the truck has a hose attached to it that runs down and connects to the fuel line with a spring coupler. I called the dealer and found that the part was changed so instead of one, there were three, the regulator, the hose with the flare fitting, and the spring coupler. Problem is, only the regulator and the spring coupler are still available. Anybody dealt with this before? Yeah, I know I could do the junk yard thing but I sure don't want to have to split that manifold to get to the parts. I also don't want to have to do a lot of fabrication, but I can if I have to. Thanks.

What kind of flare is it? More than likely you could rent a tool to make the flare, then you would just have to use good hose clamps and hose to make the line.

The hose that's on the old one is a rigid plastic. The old regulator has a barbed nipple that the hose slide onto. The flare fitting on the new one is male and quite large so it's probably going to take a female flare with a barbed nipple on it to make up the new hose part. It would be great if someone's already done this and has part recs.

Yeah, I got the wrong part. Actually, it's wrong on Rock Auto, too. Ordered the right one from a place in Kansas.
