I have a 99 2.5 manual 2wd. I’ve checked timing, have spark, replace cam and crank sensors, fuel pump and confirmed I have good rail pressure. Can still not keep the truck running, if I spray it with starting fluid it’ll run for about 3 seconds and run well until it bogs down and dies. Seems like injectors will not fire. Originally though fuel pump was the issue and when I replaced it the truck cranked up and ran for a 10-20 seconds before bogging down and again will now only crank and run on starting fluid. Any next steps would be appreciated!

Fuel injectors are new
Inertia switch is not flipped
Relays have been swapped around and replaced
New computer
Truck has sat for years

You probably make sure you had fresh gas?

Possibilities, you may still have stale gas in the fuel lines, or your new injectors are bad. You might check fuel volume, not pressure, to see if fuel supply is dropping off. It should start briefly if that’s the case, but it’s something to check.

The ignition timing is right which is the crank sensor, you sure the auxiliary gear (what the cam sensor reads) is lined up right? There's two marks, diamond and triangle don't remember which is which but these things don't like the cam sensor reading off even a tooth...

Only other thing is vacuum leaks or MAF sensor, any trouble codes? When I had the intake off my '97 I missed a small vacuum line when I put it back together and it didn't run good but mine has a return fuel system and it was the regulator line so the pressure was high and had a vacuum leak so don't know which caused it... my V8 Explorer didn't like the PCV hose being unplugged...

After cranking for a few seconds, you can pull a plug and see if it’s wet/ smells like gas.
