I just got my 93 Ranger home today and after cleaning the very dirty throttle body and IAC it idles pretty smooth for a 4.0. The only thing is i hear a light ticking all the time at idle, it sounds too light to be a lifter, but too noisy to be an injector. I thought maybe exhaust leak but its coming from the top of the engine. Does anyone else hear their injectors at idle? It seems to run good and have good power, if its the just the injectors I can live with that. Any opinions / feedback would be appreciated...

Yes, injectors can tick. I'd grab a stethoscope and listen to all the injectors -- they aren't ALL ticking.

An unfortunately common problem on 4.0Ls is severe wear in the rockers where they contact the pushrods. This can tap, too.
