Fuel Injection V8??

I have 2002 Ranger V6 4.0L SOHC (EFI) and i want to put a 5.0L V8 in it. i am going through trying to do as much research as possible and i have come up to brick wall. If i get a V8 that is already fuel injected will i have to swap out computers or can i keep the computer that came in my truck along with the wiring and all? If i can keep my computer will i still have to change out my ignition or can keep that as well? kinda doing this on a junk yard budget once i get back home so im trying to keep all that i can. thanks for any help you can give me.

the ignition system for a V6 will never be compatible with an 8 cylinder motor. the six cylinder Ignition system only has room for 6 plug wires, after all.

The computer used for the 4.0 V6 also will not run an 8 cylinder motor for similar reasons. The computer currently in your Ranger was designed to run a specific motor and if you try to use a motor that has a different amount of cylinders, or changes in design, it will cease to function properly.

Thats awesome...i figured but i also figured i would try to modify if possible. thanks again...looks like im gonna be saving for a little while longer, deployment pay aint that good, LOL.

what about the transmission swap...does anyone know anything about the 4R70W or 5R55W?? i was looking at going with a C4 tranmission but then i found these...thanks

Yeah, computer has to go, sorry. 4R70W's came with the Explorer 5.0's - they'll take quite a bit of power with good results.

buy a wrecked 00-01 v8 explorer it will be the cheapest and easiest way to swap
