I had some problems with my truck. I posted the issue and some responses led me to the direction I needed to fix my truck. My truck is an 86 2.9. I gotta say that from now on I will first pressure wash the engine before I work on it. I don't think that I will ever let it get real dirty again. I plugged in my code reader even thou the truck would not stay running and ran KOEO tests. I got a few egr codes so I went to pick and pull for the PIV as well as the egr solenoid adn replaced them. The cost me 5 dollars. after the I recieved no more KOEO codes. I hooked up my fuel pressure gage and found out that my FPR valve was not working correctly. Now that I have got all that fixed, I want to do a PM on everything else on the motor. How do I clean the MAP secsor and any other parts to get it running like new again?

MAP sensor gets vacuum, IMO, I don't think it would ever need to be cleaned. Not like a MAS that has air flow running through it. A vacuum gauge is probably where I would start, this will indicate the health of the engine. Will also show if you have any unknown vacuum leaks.

Map sensor can be tested if you have a DMM that can check the frequencies. The frequency changes as the amount of vacuum changes. From what I remember it was linear. Check out http://www.fordfuelinjection.com for more info and a chart.

I was thinking about the MAS sensor? I cleaned the IAC and have replaced the christmas tree for the egr with a good one from the junk yard. Where does the other vacuum line go on the back of the motor? What is static pressure supposed to be at idle? I want to fix my idle as it gets rough when it sits at a stop light for a few?
