So my new 78 has a fuel leak at the "fuel heater" we think it is.... 2 fuel lines, 1 goes in, the other comes out and to the carb so we are just assuming. But the seal insiade whatever it is is bad because it's leaking. Any suggestions? I can try and get a pic later today, no gauruntees. Thanks!

Are you looking at the choke tubes ? Can't imagine what could be leaking out of them though, should only be air.

wow... i feel like an idiot. So you know, i'd look at it and go hmm... looks like amechanical fuel pump... (i'm not familiar with these older trucks) well you guys brought it to my attention about the fp and i looked on my compluter and vwa la.... It's my fuel pump.... and I work at a parts store... just shoot me....

mistakes happen, at least you have commen sence to know whats what. most girls dont even know what a fuel pump is.. glad you found your problem, there fairly easy and cheap to fix since its a mechanical pump

The price you guys pay for parts really pisses me off. I had to change a mechanical fuel pump last week on my sons truck, 75 bucks cdn.

I'm sorry? I guess that's the benefit of working at parts store eh? They still make a profit off of us and not all parts stores have the same discount. I worked at autozone and only had %10 off price, napa was %20 above cost and I think where I'm at now is the same, but I also work at a family owned Parts store.... No hatin.... :annoyed:

Oh and BTW... walk in price for the one i bought was only $6.83 more than what I payed. So you just went to the wrong parts store or have a complicated vehicle...

It was at the weekend so my choices of places to get the part were limited, however if I got the part through the shop I do some work for it would have only been a few bucks cheaper. This is a general thing here, whatever parts you need. If I'm trying to find out what a part is going to cost I check out what it costs at autozone, multiply by three and that's around what it costs here. Oh! an 87 dodge truck is neither exotic or complicated.

Ok well then please don't enter my posts pissy because i get a good price on parts. I did not ask for that WHAT so ever.
