Fuel guage issues?!!???!!!!

i was thinkin of pouring octane boost slowly into the hole. possibly the float will smile apon the higher concentrate of octane and be naturally attracted?

fill your tank with water and see if the fuel soaked float will float to the top and register on the guage :-)

yep still out of control. ok i am going to kill it lol. there is a way to put all the bolts out of your bed except the last 2 towards the tailgate and you can loosen those are far as they can go but dont take them out. then get a 2x4 or if you are in a garage i used a cross beam and some straps to pull the bed up so it looks like a dump truck. this is usually easier than dropping the gas tank. and bite the bullet and but a new fuel pump. with a shop discount at a napa my fuel pump was like 135 bucks

now. if i do this dump truck mod to my ranger... does that mean my suspension automatically will take more weight than factory? i mean, dump trucks can carry a shit load. right? i mean it makes sense to me

Go ahead and load about 6K in the bed, then take a picture and send it to us. Maybe one of us will donate some money so you can buy a new truck.

It will, but it comes with a price. If you carry the extra weight around like that you blow out all the forward gears. Then some poor 1st semester auto student will have to back your truck around the shop, through the door, and into a bay to remove your dump bed that you want installed in your new truck, and do it all without going forward.

No only if you put the hydraulic hoist on it will the springs self adjust for the load difference or did the gut at action lie to me

The float costs about $12 from Ford. Once you fish out the pump and float unit from the tank, you will see the float clipped on to the arm from the send ing unit. Simply pull the float off by hand and replace it by clipping the new one on. I've got a 1950 F-1 that has the same setup, so Ford has been using these things for a long time.

thanks for the info. i'm thinkin its easier to lift the box apposed to dropping the tank?

never dropped the tank, but getting the bed off for me was very easy. If you have a rust problem spray the bolts down with your favorite magic spray for a couple days before.
