Popped a CE light and apparently the code if for a fuel cap according to auto zone. Put a new cap on and code is still there. Bought an evap canister and will put that on soon. Wondering if i could order any other parts or any other areas i need to look.

You need to diagnose it properly instead of throwing parts at it. Auto zone gave you a maybe.
Did they give you the actual code number?

I just went through this with my B4000. CE light and a PO446 code. Evap system fault. Replacedthe fuel cap first and then the purge solenoid under the hood at first and still had the CE light on and code reappearing (this should have shown a PO445 code). Then I changed the rear vapor vent solenoid and the canister and it fixed the issue. Get your self a small hand held code scanner(less than 100 bucks) and keep it in your glove box. I use it frequently and have saved a lot of diagnostic bills from mechanics by having it.

OP: What was the exact code - was it a P0455 or something else?

Fill the tank completely full till it clicks once, and do not top off. Either reset the codes manually or drive it a while and see if it goes off... The system which monitors the gas cap in just about every vehicle I've touched is prissy as all hell.

After you read the whole thread note the last comment w/ link.
