Is using a torch on my 2.3 head to get exhaust bolts out going to damage or warp the head? I'm trying to cover a lot of bases as I begin my engine swap. Thanks.

I dont see why it would...just dont burn the bolts out of there. If you think about it, those heads get extemely hot just running the engine.

pb blaster twice a day for a couple days and try again.

If you heat the bolt it will expand. When you use heat you have to heat what the bolt is into so it expands.

Wrench and impact. Swift blows due wonders.

Usually they come right out of a 2.3 head.Like what has said, you might sqirt some PB on them before you try.

Ok guys. Thanks. I hope they come out easy but after 16 years of service you just don't know. I know the torque specs aren't than tight. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Soaking them with PB blaster (a few days in advance) and heating the crap out of them, they should break free. Heat is definitely your best friend. I've also heard of a trick from my grandpa about heating bolts up until they are red hot, then stick an old candle (or some type of wax) against the bolt until it melts onto the threads. Over time, the wax finds it's way down the threads and helps you break it free. Never tried it, but seriously, when are grandpas ever wrong?!

Good luck man

Thank you for all the suggestions here guys. I'm going to need them! Nice job on the ICM too idriveaford....
