today i was lookin at my hubs and i realized that the axle on the right side wasnt stickin out as far as the left. so i grabbed ahold of it and pulled it right out to where its supposed to be. i think it has something to do with the boot where it seperates from the axle going into the pumpkin. any body know whats goin on???

its not the u-joint im sure because it moves back and forth in the boot and thats before the joint

oh, you're sayin it moves inside the boot? it's supposed to, it's a slip joint

there should be 3 small washer-like spacers, one has roller bearings in it and one is splined inside. all 3 of those should be on the axle shaft and then a c-clip holding it all on. are these parts missing from your axle?

im not totally sure kunar, i'll have to look tomorrow. would they be inside the slip joint?

no.... on the end of the axle shaft. under the hub, but outboard of the spindle. i dont have a good pic or i would show you....

On his '94 (D35) it'll be just one solid splined spacer, and then the c-clip.

They go around the end of the axle shaft, retaining it within the spindle.

thanks for the clarification, junkie.

and yes, that's your problem

Dealer or junkyard (they are the same for auto or manual locking hubs).
